Cuckoo: John Malkovich, Gemma Chan & More Join NEON’s Horror Feature

NEON’s upcoming horror feature Cuckoo has added four cast members to its ensemble with Oscar nominee and Emmy winner John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire, Billions, The New Pope), Gemma Chan (Eternals, Humans, Let Them All Talk), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), and Sofia Boutella (Atomic Blonde) set to headline the project, according to Deadline.

Details on the film are being kept under wraps. NEON will finance the project, which is expected to begin filming in April 2022.

Cuckoo will be written and directed by Tilman Singer, following the filmmaker’s 2020 demonic horror flick Luz. The film was nominated for and won numerous festival awards, including Best Picture (Horror Features) at Fantastic Fest 2018 and Best Feature Film at 2018’s Fractured Visions Film Festival. Luz cinematographer Paul Faltz, composer Simon Waskow, and production designer Dario Mendez Acosta are reteaming with Singer on the new film.

Cuckoo will also star Jan Bluthardt, Zita Hanrot, and Proschat Madani.

Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum of Waypoint Entertainment are producing along with Markus Halberschmidt and Maria Tsigka of Fiction Park, and Thor Bradwell.
