Black Panther 2 Set Photos Show Martin Freeman’s Return, New Look at Riri Williams

New behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have arrived online, as production simultaneously continues in Boston and Atlanta. The photos feature our first look at yet another returning MCU alum along with a closer look at Dominique Thorne’s debut as Riri Williams/ Iron Heart.

In the Black Panther 2 set photos, which you can check out below, Emmy winner Martin Freeman makes his return as Everett K. Ross after three years since the first film. He is also seen sporting a new look for the C.I.A. agent.

Based on the Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film.

The sequel will feature the return of most of its original main cast including Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Freeman as Ross, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and Winston Duke as M’Baku.

In addition, Tenoch Huerta (Narcos: Mexico) has reportedly been cast as the upcoming film’s antagonist, with some fans and outlets speculating that he might be playing the role of Namor. I May Destroy You creator-star Michaela Coel has also reportedly signed on for an undisclosed role.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is being directed by Ryan Coogler from a screenplay he is co-writing with Joe Robert Cole.

It is currently slated to hit theaters on July 8, 2022, two years following the untimely passing of titular star and acclaimed actor Chadwick Boseman, who died at the age of 43 after his four-year-long private battle with colon cancer.
