The sequel to 2019’s The Addams Family will no longer just be a theatrical release, as Bloomberg is reporting that the sequel will release in theaters and premium on demand on the same day.

The upcoming animated film from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and BRON Creative is set to release on October 1, 2021, and it seems as if the decision to move the film to on demand services as well stems from studios attempting to handle the ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases. Now, fans wanting to watch The Addams Family 2 will be able to do so at home, although it’s unclear exactly what services will be hosting the film.

The Addams Family 2 joins a growing list of films that have been affected by the Delta variant of COVID-19, as Paramount’s Clifford the Big Red Dog was removed from its September release, Venom: Let There Be Carnage was pushed back several weeks, and Hotel Transylvania 4 was moved completely to Amazon Prime Video.

“In this all-new movie, we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with ‘scream time.’ To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation,” says the official synopsis. “Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, It, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong?”

The sequel will feature returning voice cast including Oscar Isaac as Gomez Addams, Charlize Theron as Morticia Addams, Chloë Grace Moretz as Wednesday Addams, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Bette Midler as Grandmama, and Snoop Dogg as IT. Joining them are Javon “Wanna” Walton as the new voice of Pugsley, Wallace Shawn, and Bill Hader.
