Luc Besson’s Lucy, Starring Scarlett Johansson, Gets an R Rating

Universal Pictures’ Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansson, has received an R rating for “strong violence, disturbing images, and sexuality.” The Luc Besson-directed film was recently moved up from an August 8 release to July 25 and will face the Dwayne Johnson-led Hercules, the Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel comedy Sex Tape, and the dance franchise entry Step Up All In.

Lucy is an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. The film also stars Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman.
