According to Deadline, Golden Globe nominee Jennifer Lopez has officially signed on a new project for Netflix in the form of an upcoming sci-fi thriller titled Atlas. In addition, Rampage director Brad Peyton has also been enlisted to helm the project, which will be his latest collaboration with the streamer after producing the upcoming Jason Momoa-led action thriller Sweet Girl.

The casting news comes after over a week since it was announced that Lopez has partnered with the streamer for a multi-year first-look film and TV deal. This marks the third project under Nuyorican’s overall Netflix deal, with the first one being an action film titled The Mother, and the film adaptation of The Cipher, which are also set to be led by Lopez.

“I’m so honored to be working with Jennifer, Elaine, and the rest of the team at Nuyorican Productions along with our partners Joby and Tory at Safehouse,” Peyton said in a statement. “Having the chance to direct Jennifer in the title role of this movie is a dream come true, as I know she’ll bring the incredible strength, depth, and authenticity we’ve all come to admire from her work. Furthermore, Jeff and I are so excited to be back working with Scott, Ori, and the entire team at Netflix. They have been nothing short of amazing to work with and we are blessed to have the opportunity to make another movie on the service.”

Atlas centers around a woman fighting for humanity in a future where an AI soldier has determined the only way to end war is to end humanity. To outthink this rogue AI, Atlas must work with the one thing she fears most — another AI. The film is being written by Aron Eli Coleite, based on Leo Sardarian’s original screenplay.

On top of starring, Lopez will also serve as a producer along with producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and long-time manage Benny Medina. Producers are Matt Schwartz, Safehouse Pictures’ Joby Harold, and Tory Tunnell along with ASAP Entertainment’s Peyton and Jeff Fierson. It will be executive produced by Courtney Baxter.
