Everest Screenwriter Sheldon Turner Takes Splinter Cell

The video game announced for development as a motion picture property in 2012 with Tom Hardy becoming attached to star last year, Deadline today reports that director Doug Liman’s Splinter Cell is set to be rewritten by Everest scribe Sheldon Turner.

The first game, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, was released in 2002 and set in 2004, following the adventures of Sam Fisher, a covert operative assigned to a top-secret National Security Agency branch called the Third Echelon.

The game has had several sequels including, most recently, Tom Clancy’s Spinter Cell: Blacklist, released last August.

American Hustle and The International‘s Eric Warren Singer previously drafted the screenplay.
