Those Who Wish Me Dead: Angelina Jolie-led western sets release date
Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema have finally announced the release date for director Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming neo-Western thriller film adaptation of Those Who Wish Me Dead. Starring Oscar winner Angelina Jolie and Nicholas Hoult, the film is scheduled to arrive on May 14, 2021, in theaters and on HBO Max.
Based on a book of the same name by Michael Koryta, Those Who Wish Me Dead follows a teen in a witness protection program evading killers in the fire-raged wilderness of Montana. The film will reportedly “veer away from certain points,” rather than act as a straight-up adaptation; and act as more of a female-driven “by-the-seat-of-your-pants chase movie.”
The film stars Angelina Jolie (Wanted, Changeling), Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road), Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), Tyler Perry (Gone Girl), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Medina Senghore (Blindspot), Finn Little (Storm Boy), and Jake Weber (Homeland).
Those Who Wish Me Dead is directed by Taylor Sheridan from a screenplay adapted by Sheridan, Michael Koryta, and Charles Leavitt. Bron Studios (The Mule) will produce the film alongside Steve Zaillian (Moneyball) and Garrett Basch via their Film Rites banner. Sheridan will also produce alongside BRON’s Aaron L. Gilbert, Kevin Turen (All is Lost), and Jason Cloth (The Mule, Fences) for Creative Wealth Media. Executive producers include Kathryn Dean and Michael Friedman (Yellowstone).
