According to Deadline, Golden Globe-winning actor Taron Egerton has set up his next collaboration with Rocketman producer and Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn as he officially signs on for the leading role in Apple‘s forthcoming biopic film titled Tetris, centering around the popular video game of the same name. Egerton is set to portray the role of the Dutch video game designer named Henk Rogers, who was the first one to successfully secure the rights for the game’s distribution on consoles. The outlet notes that casting for the roles of the game’s creator Alexey Pajitnov and businessmen Robert and Kevin Maxwell are still getting finalized.

First created by Russian software engineer Alexey Pajitnov in 1984, Tetris had instantly became a video game classic phenomenon after it became a fixture of the Nintendo Game Boy in 1989.The game was inspired by Pajitnov’s favorite childhood puzzle game that involved pentominoes. The disputes concerning the game’s copyright in the 1980s, which heavily involved Rogers, Atari and Nintendo, attributed to its rise to prominence.
The film adaptation will be directed by Jon S. Baird (Stan & Ollie). It will be produced and financed by Vaughn’s Marv Films and Leonard Blavatnik’s Al Film. Unigram’s Grego Cameron and Gillian Berrie will also served as producers. Production is scheduled to start this early December in Scotland.

Egerton first gained recognition for his performance in Matthew Vaughn’s first two Kingsman films. For his role as Elton John in the Rocketman biopic, he was able to score his first Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
