Directed by Laurits Munch-Petersen, the original film centers around bank robbery involving a returned veteran from Afghanistan and his brother. However, the robbery didn’t go as planned with the brothers having no choice but to take hostages and hijack an ambulance. As the situation escalates, old wounds reopen in the relationship between the brothers as they fight to survive what seems like an impossible situation.

The Ambulance remake will be written by Chris Fedak (Chuck, Prodigal Son). It is being produced by Project X with James Vanderbilt, Bradley Fischer, and William Sherak set as producers. The newly-formed production company is also currently attached to the production of Spyglass’ highly-anticipated Scream 5 and the development of New Line Cinema’s Stephen King film adaptation of The Long Walk.

The project will also be produced by original film producers Tomas Radoor and Rene Ezra along with Bay’s longtime collaborator Ian Bryce.
