Scott Pilgrim vs. the World cast sets reunion for a virtual table read
Ahead of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World‘s upcoming 10th Anniversary celebration, director Edgar Wright and the cast of the 2010 action-comedy film are officially reuniting for a virtual table read that will benefit Water For People, a charity which aims to promote the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all, and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments. The table read event will be available for streaming on Monday, July 20 at 1PM ET on EW.
The virtual reunion will be consisting of Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Aubrey Plaza, Ellen Wong, Kieran Culkin, Mark Webber, Johnny Simmons, Alison Pill, Satya Bhabha, Mae Whitman, Brandon Routh, and Jason Schwartzman. Joining Wright are the film’s co-writer Michael Bacall and Scott Pilgrim graphic novel writer Bryan Lee O’Malley.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World starred Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, a young man who falls hard for Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Ramona Flowers. But to win Ramona’s heart, Scott has to face her seven evil exes, including Lucas Lee (Chris Evans), Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh), Roxy Richter (Mae Whitman), and Gideon Graves (Jason Schwartzman). Alison Brie also appears as Scott’s evil ex, Envy Adams, alongside Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.
Even though the film had a poor box office performance, it had still earned positive reviews from critics and has amassed quite a cult following. Even though a sequel is off the table, Edgar Wright has instead revealed that there are talks currently happening about a potential animated spinoff series.
