Tape to Premiere Virtually With Panel Conversations Following Screenings
Writer and director Deborah Kampmeier’s (Split, Virgin, Hounddog) drama thriller Tape will now be premiering virtually on March 26. You can click here to learn more about the Tape virtual premiere and additional screenings, including times for the red carpet and Q&A’s with Kampmeier and special guests following the screenings.
Based on true events and set in New York City, Tape is the story of two aspiring actresses (Isabelle Fuhrman and Annarosa Mudd) who cross paths with the darker side of the entertainment industry. TAPE addresses burning societal curiosities, taking the audience into the room where questionable behavior goes unseen, finally answering the question “how could this kind of thing happen?” The film is a visceral moment-by-moment unveiling of the way ambitious and everyday women are systematically coerced and taken advantage of.
“Tape is based on my dear friend’s true story. Making this film gave her a voice. Oftentimes the silencing of a woman’s voice after an act of violence or coercion can be as damaging as the act itself. We hope our film brings voice and relief to others whose stories have been silenced. Emotional isolation can be painful and frightening for survivors, and during this time of social distancing we want to provide a space to connect and find support after watching the film together,” said Kampmeier.
Daily screenings at 7 p.m. EST will be followed by a panel conversation with different special guests every night from Thursday, March 26 to Thursday, April 9, during the film’s ‘theatrical window.’ Panelists to join director Deborah Kampmeier include members of her cast and crew, with additional participants to be announced. Viewers will be able to interact with the panel, asking questions and being a part of the discussion, moving from isolation to connection, through the power of the shared experience.
Tape stars Isabelle Fuhrman (The Hunger Games), Tarek Bishara (The Tale) and Annarosa Mudd. The film was produced by Kampmeier, Mudd, and Veronica Nickel.
Following the premiere this week, Tape will begin streaming on Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, and Microsoft on April 10.
