Sylvester Stallone Signs on For Dystopian Thriller Little America

Michael Bay (6 Underground) and Sylvester Stallone (Rambo: Last Blood) have had two of the most iconic action genre careers in Hollywood, and now they’re finally set to work together for the first time on the upcoming dystopian thriller Little America, according to Deadline.

Written and directed by Rowan Athale (Strange But True), the film will be set in a dystopian future where America has become bankrupt and turned into a war zone and will follow Stallone as a former Army Ranger who is hired to find an Asian billionaire’s daughter. He will be assisted by the billionaire’s other daughter, highly-skilled in combat, and will see the two navigate the dark underbelly of the titular zone, a walled-off city within a city in Hong Kong where many Americans have fled.

Universal had previously won the rights to Athale’s script, but after the project hit the market, Universal left and AGC Studios acquired it, currently opening up bids at the European Film Market. Bay, who recently debuted his expensive Netflix project 6 Underground led by Ryan Reynolds (Free Guy), has signed on to executive produce the project through his banner Platinum Dunes.

Little America is being described as being reminiscent of John Carpenter’s 1981 Kurt Russell-led Escape From New York and is set to be shot in summer, while Stallone films the upcoming superhero thriller Samaritan in the meantime. The action star recently led the fifth installment in his iconic action series Rambo: Last Blood, which was critically panned and received mixed reviews from audiences but drew in $91 million globally on a $50 million budget.
