Gareth Edwards Sets Next Feature Film at New Regency

At long last, some three years after his last feature film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hit the big screen, director Gareth Edwards has set his next project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Edwards will write and direct a sci-fi film for New Regency, which will finance and produce the yet-to-be-titled feature.

Edwards debuted behind the camera for the 2010 indie hit Monsters, which landed him the directing gig for 2014’s Godzilla for Warner Bros. and Legendary. He was then tapped to direct the first of Disney’s Star Wars spinoffs, Rogue One, which grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office despite a hefty round of reshoots involving Tony Gilroy. Edwards also had a bit part in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
