Production begins on Robert Pattinson’s The Batman

Emmy Award-winning actor Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), who is set to take on the role of Commissioner Jim Gordon, took to Twitter to reveal that filming has officially begun for director Matt Reeves’ highly-anticipated DC film The Batman. In addition, the first photos from the London set of the Robert Pattinson-led film have also surfaced online, giving us a glimpse of Gotham City. Check out the set photos below! The Batman will be featuring a star-studded cast led by Robert Pattinson (Good Time, The Lighthouse) as the titular dark knight/ Bruce Wayne. Joining Pattinson are Andy Serkis (Black Panther) as Alfred Pennyworth, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Paul Dano as the Riddler, John Turturro (The Big Lebowski) as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard (Green Lantern) and newcomer Jayme Lawson for an undisclosed key role, with Colin Farrell set to portray the role of Penguin, respectively.

Reeves’ story has been described as a character-driven project focusing on Batman’s experiences as the world’s greatest detective. The filmmaker has also said to expect a “Rogue’s Gallery” of villains in the movie.

Reeves will direct the Warner Bros. Pictures film, and also co-wrote the screenplay alongside writer Mattson Tomlin. Reeves is producing alongside Dylan Clark. Michael E. Uslan will serve as executive producer.

The Batman is scheduled to hit the theaters on June 25, 2021.
