Chris Hemsworth Teases Thor: Love and Thunder Start Date

Chris Hemsworth teases production start date for Thor: Love and Thunder

During recent appearance at Tokyo Comic Con, when asked about Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder, lead star Chris Hemsworth has revealed that filming will officially begin in mid-2020 in Australia. He also confirmed that he hasn’t got the chance to read the film’s script yet but his is very excited for the new things that Taika Waititi has planned for his character in the fourth installment.

“Lots of love and lots of thunder. You can expect that,” Hemsworth said during the panel (via Comic Book). “I haven’t seen the script yet. I know they’re working very hard on it and pretty excited to bring you something pretty fresh and new again. But having left Endgame, where Thor was, we have a lot of room to move there and drastically change again, which is very, very exciting. But we start shooting that sort of mid-next year.”

Thor: Love and Thunder will be directed by Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) which will be the followup to his wildly successful 2017 sequel Thor: Ragnarok. Natalie Portman is set to return as Jane and will wield the mighty Mjolnir. Hemsworth and Thompson will also return as Thor and Valkyrie, respectively. The female Thor storyline is based on Jason Aaron’s run on “The Mighty Thor” in which a cancer-stricken Jane Foster takes up the mantle and powers of Thor.

Thor and Valkyrie were last seen in this year’s highest-grossing film of all time Avengers: Endgame with the god of thunder entrusting his responsibilities as the King of Asgard to Valkyrie as he joins the Guardians of the Galaxy on their next mission.
