The Harder They Fall: Idris Elba to Star in Netflix Western

Golden Globe winner Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation, Luther, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) is set to star in Netflix’s The Harder They Fall, an upcoming western revenge drama, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Elba will join Jonathan Majors (Captive State, White Boy Rick, Lovecraft Country) in the film, which is written and directed by Jeymes Samuel (They Die by Dawn), also known as the singer-songwriter The Bullitts.

The all-black Western is the story of when outlaw Nat Love (Majors) discovers that the man (Elba) who killed his parents two decades ago is being released from prison, he reunites with his gang to track his enemy down and seek his revenge.

Jay-Z will produce the project and has previously collaborated with Samuel on the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. Samuel, James Lassiter, and Lawrence Bender will also produce.

Elba recently starred in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, In the Long Run, the TV series Turn Up Charlie, the fifth season of Luther, Avengers: Infinity War, Thor: Ragnarok, and Molly’s Game. His upcoming projects include Cats, The Suicide Squad, Concrete Cowboys, and Three Thousand Years of Longing, written and directed by George Miller.
