The action franchise has seen everything from the formidable T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Sarah (Linda Hamilton) and John Connor (Edward Furlong) from Terminator 2: Judgement Day; Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) from The Matrix franchise; Athos (Kiefer Sutherland), Porthos (Oliver Platt) and Aramis (Charlie Sheen) from The Three Musketeers;  and Legolas (Orlando Bloom), Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) from The Lord of the Rings franchise.

Even the dramatic genre has seen some iconic trios including Jimmy (Robert De Niro), Henry (Ray Liotta) and Tommy (Joe Pesci) from Goodfellas; Brody (Roy Scheider), Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and Quint (Robert Shaw) from Jaws; Judy (Jane Fonda), Violet (Lily Tomlin) and Doralee (Dolly Parton) from 9 to 5; and Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) from the Twilight franchise.
