Ben Affleck to Star in Disaster Drama Falling to Earth

According to Deadline, Ben Affleck has signed up to star in the film adaptation of Falling to Earth, based on the novel by Kate Southwood. Affleck will also serve as producer alongside Matt Damon, via their Pearl Street Films.

The book was released in 2013 and is based on the 1925 Tri-State Tornado that swept through Indiana, Illinois and Missouri, killed 45 people and ruined countless others. Affleck will a man named Paul Graves, who was the only person whose life wasn’t destroyed by the act of nature. Fast forward one year later and Paul begins facing resentment and jealousy from people in his hometown for his fortuitous situation.

Hillary Seitz (Eagle Eye) will pen the screenplay. Madison Ainley will serve as executive producer.

Affleck will next be seen reprising his role as Holden McNeil in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and is currently working on The Way Back, The Last Thing He Wanted and is gearing up to star in and direct Ghost Army.
