Jennifer Lopez and Steve Martin Join Voice Cast of DreamWorks Animation’s Home

Jennifer Lopez and Steve Martin have joined Jim Parsons and Rihanna in the voice cast for DreamWorks Animation’s Home (previously titled “Happy Smekday!”), according to TheWrap.

To be distributed by 20th Century Fox, the film is based on the critically-acclaimed book “The True Meaning of Smekday,” by Adam Rex. When the galaxy’s most annoyingly optimistic alien finds himself on the run from his own alien race, he’s forced to team up with a fiercely stubborn teenage girl. Together they become the most unlikely fugitives ever to save the planet.

The site says: “Martin will voice Captain Smek, leader of the overly optimistic alien race known as the Boov, who take over Earth and begin to relocate the human race — convinced they’re doing them a big favor. Rihanna will voice a resourceful girl who avoids capture and unwittingly becomes the accomplice of a banished Boov (Parsons). Lopez will play the girl’s mother.”

Home is scheduled for a November 26, 2014 release. Tim Johnson (Over the Hedge, Antz) is directing from a screenplay by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember.
