IT Chapter Three in development

There’s No Plan To Put An IT Chapter Three In Development… Yet

While IT Chapter Two hasn’t even hit theaters yet, people are already wondering if this will be the last we see of Pennywise, or whatever he went by in his pre-clowning days.

In an interview with io9, producer Barbara Muschietti said that the book adaptation “is done.” However, director Andy Muschietti teased he might have some ideas about where to take the franchise from here.

There is a whole mythology to the book though,” the director said. “Mythology is something that always has opportunities to explore. It has been on Earth for millions of years. He’s been in contact with humans for hundreds of years, every 27 years. So you can imagine the amount of material. It’s always exciting to think of eventually exploring this mythology. But, for now, there’s nothing on the table.

Twenty-seven years after the Losers Club defeated Pennywise, he has returned to terrorize the town of Derry once more. Now adults, the Losers have long since gone their separate ways. However, people are disappearing again, so Mike, the only one of the group to remain in their hometown, calls the others home. Damaged by the experiences of their past, they must each conquer their deepest fears to destroy Pennywise once and for all…putting them directly in the path of the shape-shifting clown that has become deadlier than ever.
