Richard Montanez was the son of a Mexican immigrant who landed a job as a janitor at Frito-Lay where he came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. His idea, per the report, “inspired by the flavors of his community, revitalized the company and disrupted the food industry, creating a pop culture phenomenon that continues today.”

Longoria reportedly beat out several other directors for the gig after her desire to create an authentic portrayal of Richard and Judy Montanez’s story impressed Franklin and Fox. She will direct from a script by Lewis Colick (Charlie St. Cloud).
