Taika Waititi denies rumors of completed Thor 4 script
Director Taika Waititi took to Twitter to debunk reports that he has already finished the script for Marvel Studious’ highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder. In true Taika Waititi fashion, the director denied the claims with a witty remark.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be directed by Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) which will be followup to his wildly successful 2017 sequel Thor: Ragnarok. Natalie Portman is set to return as Jane Foster and will take on the mantle of Mighty Thor. Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will also return as Thor and Valkyrie, respectively. The female Thor storyline is based on Jason Aaron’s run on “The Mighty Thor” in which a cancer-stricken Jane Foster takes up the mantle and powers of Thor. The film is scheduled to be released on November 5, 2021.
The film will reportedly immediately start shooting in early 2020 in Australia after Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has wrapped its production.
Waititi’s busy schedule also includes plans to write/direct a Time Bandits TV pilot for Apple TV+, as well as an episode of the Star Wars series The Mandalorian he completed for Disney+. The filmmaker also has the WWII satire film Jojo Rabbit (in which he also plays the role of Adolf Hitler) finished for release by Fox Searchlight on October 18.
