Disney’s Cruella Adds Joel Fry as Henchman Jasper
According to Variety, British actor Joel Fry (Game of Thrones, Yesterday) has joined the cast of Walt Disney Pictures‘ Cruella which centers on one of the most iconic Disney villains from the 101 Dalmatians film franchise. Fry will be playing the role Jasper, one of Cruella’s henchmen, who will be tasked along with Paul Walter Hauser’s Horace to kidnap the 101 dalmatians. In the 1996 film adaptation, Jasper and Horace were played by Golden Globe winner Hugh Laurie and Mark Williams, respectively.
He will be joining Academy Award-winning actresses Emma Thompson (Howards End), and Emma Stone (La La Land), who is set to portray the titular fur-obsessed antagonist.
The Cruella De Vil movie will explore the villainess who originated in Dodie Smith’s 1956 book, “The Hundred and One Dalmatians.” The role was voiced by Betty Lou Gerson in Disney’s 1961 animated adaptation and played by Glenn Close in the 1996 live-action take (as well as in that film’s 2000 sequel, 102 Dalmatians).
