“In truth, I’ve always wanted Apocalypse Now to be exhibited in the grandest format of cinema conceivable,” Coppola said. “And now audiences will have a chance to experience ‘Final Cut’ in the most immersive format in existence.”

One of the most acclaimed films of all time, Apocalypse Nowhas seen two previous releases. The original film screened in Cannes on May 10, 1979 before hitting theaters on August 15 of the same year. It was a box office hit upon initial release, accumulating $150 million worldwide. And while critics were mixed, the film still received eight Academy Award nominations, winning two for Best Sound and Best Cinematography. To this day, Apocalypse Now and its many masterful sequences such as “Ride of the Valkyries” are still paid homage to in motion pictures.
