Christina Hodson (Bumblee, Birds of Prey) has also been hired to write the project. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein wrote earlier drafts of the scripted and were originally set to direct but have “voluntarily” moved on from the feature over creative differences. Their script was submitted to Warner Bros. in March, which the studio ended up rejecting within the next two months.

Ezra Miller, who played the titular character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, is still on board to star in the filim. The studio hopes to have the project in prep by January 2020 with official offers going out soon.
