Okay, we’re here, and it is day four. We are still in gratitude because this is such a beautiful place to shoot. We love filming in London, this is one of many locations,” Diesel began, before re-introducing Brewster and her character. “I’m here with Jordana — Mia — my incredible sister on and off screen, and we have someone very, very special here,” Diesel added, introducing Isaac, a child actor who’ll be playing, in his words, “baby Brian!

Brewster played Mia in five of the eight previous films and was both the sister of Dom (Diesel) and the love interest of Brian (the late Paul Walker). She was written out of the series after Walker’s death but is now being brought back into the fold. It’ll be interesting to see how (or if) the film deals with Brian’s absence, given that his character was bestowed a happy ending after Walker’s death in 2013.

Fast and Furious 9 was originally set to hit theaters on April 19 but was pushed back a year to make room for the first spin-off in the series, Hobbs & Shaw, which is now scheduled to hit theaters on August 2. As a result, Fast and Furious 9 will be getting a May 2020 release with Justin Lin returning to directing in the franchise, after helming Fast and Furious parts 3 through 6. Dan Casey will pen the screenplay from a story by Lin.

While the upcoming ninth film in the franchise won’t feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as he’s busy with first spinoff, Hobbs & Shawthis one will feature John Cena. So, call it an even trade.

Production on Fast and Furious 9 is currently underway, and is due out in theaters on May 22, 2020.
