Paramount Developing Animated Spice Girls Movie

Paramount developing animated Spice Girls movie

It has been almost 22 years since the premiere of the Spice Girls debut film, Spiceworld: The Movie, and The Hollywood Reporter now brings word that the British girl group legend are planning to make a comeback to the big screen in their own animated feature in collaboration with Paramount Animation.

According to the outlet, president of Paramount Animation Mireille Soria has revealed that the Spice Girls animated movie is currently in the early stages of development.

The Spice Girls members Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham have all agreed to sign on for the project and are said to be “very involved” in the process. The untitled feature will be co-written by Karen McCullah and Kiwi Smith with Simon Fuller serving as a producer. It is also expected to include the group’s iconic songs as well as new tunes.

The Spice Girls first formed in 1994 and became the embodiment of girl power during the 1990s. The iconic girl group rose to global stardom with the released of their debut single “Wannabe” in 1996 and are currently the best selling girl group worldwide with over 85 million records sold.
