Netflix feature Outside the Wire lands Anthony Mackie to star and produce
Anthony Mackie is getting a chance to stretch his wings after Avengers: Endgame. The actor will lead the cast of Outside the Wire, a new Netflix sci-fi flick from director Mikael Håfström (Escape Plan), per Deadline.
Mackie will play a drone pilot in the future who’s sent into a deadly militarized zone where he ends up working for an android officer to try and locate a doomsday device before it falls into the hands of insurgents.
In addition to starring, Mackie will also produce the film alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister), Ben Pugh (Ironbark), Erica Steinberg (Death Proof), and Jason Spire (Operation Finale), who’s repping Mackie’s Inspire Entertainment. The screenplay was penned by Rob Yescombe and Rowan Athale.
Mackie is also starring in the second season of Netflix’s Altered Carbon, which is expected to premiere sometime in early 2020. He’ll also be reprising the role of Falcon for his new Disney+ series alongside Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier. He can currently be seen in the new season of Black Mirror, which just premiered on Netflix.
Production on Outside the Wire is slated to begin in August, as there is some additional casting still underway.
