Tarantino Pleads with Cannes Not to Spoil Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

Tarantino pleads Cannes not to spoil Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

Ahead of Once Upon a Time in Hollywoods world premiere at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, director Quentin Tarantino took to Twitter to post a personal letter to the Cannes audience who will see the film, asking them not to reveal any spoilers. Tarantino’s upcoming ninth movie is set to hit theaters on July 26, over two months after its Cannes premiere on May 21.

“I love Cinema. You love Cinema. It’s the journey of discovering a story for the first time.’

“I’m thrilled to be here in Cannes to share ‘Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood’ with the festival audience. The cast and crew have worked so hard to create something original, and I only ask that everyone avoids revealing anything that would prevent later audiences from experiencing the film in the same way.”

Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood focuses on a male TV actor named Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) who’s had one hit western series and is looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick Cliff Booth (Pitt) — who’s also his stunt double — is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate (Rick’s neighbor in the film, portrayed by Robbie) and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story. The movie is said to be similar to a “Pulp Fiction-like tapestry” that covers a group of characters during that summer.

The film is lead by A-List stars Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio along with a massive ensemble cast that includes Margot Robbie, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Damian Lewis, Luke Perry, Emile Hirsch, Dakota Fanning, Clifton Collins, Keith Jefferson, Nicholas Hammond, James Marsden, Julia Butters , Scoot McNairy, Damon Herriman, Austin Butler, Lena Dunham, Maya Hawke, Mike Moh, Rafal Zawierucha, Rumer Willis, Dream Walker, Costa Ronin, Margaret Qualley, Victoria Pedretti, Zoe Bell, and Bruce Dern.
