Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum opened at the #1 spot at the domestic box office, a franchise first. The first John Wick movie opened in second place behind Ouija in 2014 with chapter 2 debuting in third place behind The LEGO Batman Movie and Fifty Shades Darker. Bringing in $57.025 million domestically and another $35.2 million internationally, the third film in the John Wick series brought in $92.225 million worldwide on its opening weekend. The film opened to nearly double John Wick: Chapter 2‘s domestic opening, $30.4 million.

Avengers: Endgame slipped to the #2 position for the first time in its 20+ days of release, adding another $29.4 million domestically and another $46.8 million internationally for a global haul of $76.2 million. Domestically the film has brought in $771 million and has passed Avatar to become the #2 highest grossing domestc release, sitting behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($937 million). Internationally the film has now brought in $1.844 billion and sits at $2.615 billion, only $173 million away from surpassing Avatar’s global total.

Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Detective Pikachu fell to third place, bringing in $24 million for a domestic total of $94 million. Internationally the film brought in $53.8 million for an international total of $193.4 million and a worldwide total of $287.4 million. Directed by Rob Letterman the film stars Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe, Suki Waterhouse, Rita Ora and Golden Globe winner Bill Nighy.

Universal Studios’ A Dog’s Journey opened in fourth place, debuting with $8 million in the US and $15.46 million internationally. Globally the sequel has brought in $23.48 million.
