Shania Twain and Britt Robertson Join Lionsgate’s I Still Believe

Following the surprise hit of the faith-based music drama I Can Only Imagine, Lionsgate is working on a followup entitled I Still Believe and after already landing two strong leads in Gary Sinise (Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders) and KJ Apa (Riverdale), the cast has expanded to include country star Shania Twain and Tomorrowland‘s Britt Robertson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Apa and Sinise will play true-life father and son Jeremy and Tom Camp. Jeremy is a Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter with more than 5 million albums sold. The film will reportedly deal with his “journey of love and loss.”

Twain has signed on to portray Terry Camp, mother to Jeremy, while Robertson is set to star as Melissa Henning, who starts as Jeremy’s love interest and eventually his wife. In addition to Twain and Robertson, Manifest‘s Melissa Roxburgh has signed on to star as Robertson’s older sister along with Nathan Dean Parsons (Roswell, New Mexico) as Jeremy and Melissa’s rockstar friend who mentors Jeremy while holding feelings for Melissa.

The group will begin shooting the film this Spring for a planned March 20, 2020 release.

I Still Believe will be produced by Jon and Andrew Erwin, who will also direct from a script by Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn. Kevin Downes will also produce.

Sinise has kept himself busy with television projects such as CSI: NY, from 2004-2013, and the recent Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. Interesting fact: he also played the voice of the Smithsonian Narrator in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Apa is mostly known for his work as Archie Andrews on the hit TV series Riverdale. He also starred in last year’s The Hate U Give, and 2017’s A Dog’s Purpose.

Twain is a five-time Grammy award winner in her over 30-year career as a country music star and has appeared on the small screen in guest judge appearances on American idol, Dancing with the Stars and Rupaul’s Drag Race. Robertson found her first strands of success with the short-lived but well-received CW shows Life Unexpected and The Secret Circle followed by landing roles in the CBS adaptation of the Stephen King novel Under the Dome and the Disney blockbuster Tomorrowland.
