Olivia Thirlby & Megan Fox Feature Above the Shadows Lands with Gravitas

According to Deadline, the supernatural tale Above the Shadows (a.k.a. Shadow Girl) has been picked up by Gravitas Ventures, which will handle North America distribution rights. The film, written and directed by Claudia Myers, stars Olivia Thirlby, Alan Ritchson, Jim Gaffigan, Maria Dizzia, Tito Ortiz, David Johansen and Megan Fox. It will be released in limited theaters and on demand July 19.

Per the report, the film revolves around Holly, a young woman who has practically turned invisible to the world. After some time she happens upon a disgraced MMA fighter who can not only see her, but shares a connection with her: one of her tabloid photographs led to his career downfall. To return to who she once was, Holly must help the fighter return to his former glory. “With Shayne, Holly awakens to love but also to the possibility that she may remain invisible forever.” 

Tara Sickmeier and Rob Baunoch III produced with Boundary Stone’s Mark Schacknies and Khris Baxter, while Myriad’s Kirk D’Amico served as executive producer.

Thirlby made her screen appearance in the film United 93 and has since starred in such critically acclaimed films as Juno and Dredd.

Fox is no stranger to audiences, having starred in the first two Transformers film for director Michael Bay. However, after a brief stint as April O’Neil in the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films, not to mention an extended cameo appearance on the Fox series New Girl, she has remained off screen for some time. Along with Above the Shadows, she has the films Zeroville, Think Like a Dog, Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphin and Jangsa-ri 9.15 in development.
