Endgame breaks Thursday previews record with $60 million

Avengers: Endgame has finally stormed into theaters in the US, and Walt Disney Studios reports that the film has already broken one major record stateside with the highest ever Thursday evening previews haul, bringing in $60 million and breaking the record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($57 million).

Internationally the film continues to break records, bringing in $305 million across 25 international markets in just two days. The film now holds the highest all-time industry single day in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, The Philippines, Korea (tallied in admissions), UK, Brazil, Egypt, Panama, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Trinidad and Uruguay. It has also registered the highest all-time industry opening day in Indonesia, Malaysia, Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, Bosnia/Herz, Czech Rep, Serbia (non-local), Slovakia, Turkey and Ukraine.

Last year’s Infinity War saw the titular superhero team take the fight to Thanos in order to stop his attempt at exterminating half of the universe’s population with the Infinity stones. But it was to no avail, as he was able to successfully collect them all and snap his fingers, wiping out half of all life from existence in a cloud of ash.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Endgame.
