The film, written and directed by Castille Landon (Apple of My Eye), will follow a teenage girl with schizophrenia who begins to believe her neighbor has kidnapped a child, but due to her terrifying hallucinations, no one really believes her, save from a boy named Caleb who she isn’t sure actually exists. Her parents work hard to try and give her a normal life amidst her struggles with her disease, but they themselves are also hiding some tragic secrets.

“I was truly taken by the heartbreaking story of I Saw A Man With Yellow Eyes. Castille Landon has written a tremendous script and has proven to be a fabulous director, tirelessly searching for the most truthful and artful ways to tell this tale of mental illness. Castille and the incredible cast and crew have gone all-in to make the often-misunderstood world of schizophrenia a bit more familiar. It’s an honor to be a part of such a noble and artistic film,” Connick Jr. said in a statement.

Heigl, who’s well-known for her roles in the 2007 comedy Knocked Up, the 2008 rom-com 27 Dresses and a lead role on the first six seasons of the long-running ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, has recently starred in the short-lived NBC political thriller State of Affairs and CBS legal drama Doubt before landing a main role on the USA Network legal drama Suits, which is set to premiere its ninth and final season later this year.

“When this unique and thought-provoking project came my way I knew it was a story I desperately wanted to be a part of telling. Not only am I proud to be collaborating with a talented female director, a beautiful and talented young actress, and one of my all-time favorite male leads, but I get to be a part of telling a story that touches on themes I believe to be incredibly relevant and meaningful like mental illness, tragedy, grief, unconditional love and hope. I am honored and privileged to be a part of this film,” Heigl said.

Iseman has been enjoying a wave of success in the past few years following her role in the critical and commercial hit Jumaji: Welcome to the Jungle, for which she will reprise her role in the upcoming sequel slated for a December release, and has since gone on to land roles in the sequel to the family adventure hit Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween and the upcoming third installment in the Conjuring spin-off franchise, Annabelle Comes Home, which is set to hit theaters June 28.

I Saw a Man With Yellow Eyes, which is set to begin shooting this week in Tampa and St. Petersburg, will be produced by Dori Rath alongside Joseph Restaino and Robert Malloy of Pinstripe Productions and Joe Riley at Zero Gravity Management.
