STX Films’ horror pic Countdown adds seven to cast
Deadline has brought word that the upcoming STX Films horror-thriller Countdown has expanded its cast with the addition of seven stars including S.W.A.T.‘s Peter Facinelli, Annabelle: Creation‘s Talitha Bateman, The Wolf of Wall Street‘s PJ Byrne and 13 Reasons Why‘s Anne Winters.
The film, written and directed by Justin Dec, centers on a young nurse who after downloading an app that predicts exactly when a person is going to die and discovers she is supposed to die in three days must figure out why her time is running out and who or what is the mysterious figure following her.
The cast is set to be led by Elizabeth Lail, the breakout star of the Lifetime-turned-Netflix psychological thriller series You, and in addition to Facinelli, Bateman, Byrne and Winters will also feature Jordan Calloway (Black Lightning), Tom Segura (Instant Family) and Tichina Arnold (The Last Black Man in San Francisco).
Dec, who has previously written and directed short films and has worked as a set production assistant on hit films and shows including Burn Notice, Marley & Me and Parks and Recreation, will be reuniting with Sean Anders, who he worked as an assistant for on Daddy’s Home 2 and Instant Family. Anders will produce the film alongside John Morris (Sex Drive), John Rickard (Rampage) and Zack Schiller (Escape Plan), while Drew Simon and Catherine Hagedorn will oversee the production for STX Films.
“STX has worked closely with Justin and our outstanding team of producing partners to cast some of the most exciting young actors working today for Countdown,” Adam Fogelson, Chairman of STXfilms, said in a statement. “Countdown is a completely original premise and a fun and scary script, and I can’t wait to see what this amazing cast does with their roles.”
Production for the horror-thriller is currently underway in Los Angeles.
