The Nun sequel

The Nun Sequel Has A ‘Really Fun Storyline,’ Says Conjuring Producer

With The Curse of La Llorona hitting theaters next week, and new sequels to The Conjuring and Annabelle on the horizon, it seems almost inevitable that the larger horror universe would make room for a sequel to last year’s The Nun. It turns out that’s the case, as producer Peter Safran said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

I think there is an inevitability to another Nun movie,” said Conjuring universe producer Peter Safran. “We have a really fun storyline for that teed up, so I think that that’s the next one that will be written.

The 2018 horror spinoff followed a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.

The appearance of the demonic nun, it turns out, was a last-minute decision.

Yeah, it was two days of additional shooting,” explained Safran. “We just felt like the demon that we had in Conjuring 2 was not as compelling as we wanted it to be. It was James of that came up with the idea. You know, what’s the most blasphemous thing you could think of? And that is a demonic nun.

The Nun starred Oscar-nominated Demian Bichir (A Better Life) as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) as Sister Irene, Jonas Bloquet (Elle) as local villager Frenchie, Charlotte Hope (Game of Thrones) as the abbey’s Sister Victoria, Ingrid Bisu (Toni Erdmann) as Sister Oana, and Bonnie Aarons, who reprised her Conjuring 2 role as the title character.
