Bad Boys for Life Lands DJ Khaled in Unknown Role

The cast of Bad Boys for Life keeps growing. Variety has learned that the three-quel has cast DJ Khaled in an unknown role. Khaled joins the previously announced newcomers Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Jacob Scipio, and Paola Nuñez. Both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will be reprising their roles as Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett, respectively.

DJ Khaled has appeared in a handful of film and TV projects, including Pitch Perfect 3 and the Starz series Survivor’s Remorse.

In the third installment of the Bad Boys franchise, Hudgens, Ludwig, and Melton will play a modern, highly specialized police unit that collides with the old school Bad Boys (Smith and Lawrence) when a new threat emerges in Miami.

The first two Bad Boys films were directed by Michael Bay. Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will take the reins on the latest entry from a script by Peter Craig (Bad Boys 2), Joe Carnahan (The A-Team), and Chris Bremmer. Jerry Bruckheimer will resume his producing role. Doug Belgrad will also produce, with Smith, Barry Waldman, Mike Stenson, Chad Oman, and James Lassiter serving as executive producers.

Bad Boys for Life is aiming for a January 2020 release date.
