James Wan Announces Aquaman's Completion

Director James Wan took to Instagram over the weekend to announce that his underwater epic Aquaman is officially polished and ready for theaters next month. The photo shows Wan, flanked on each side by members of his production team, standing in front of an image of Jason Momoa’s orange-and-green-clad Aquaman.

After two years of consuming and devouring my every waking hour, this little indie movie is finally done. It was a monster undertaking. I can’t THANK enough the amazing post team of VFX/editorial/sound for working tirelessly around the clock — crazy long days, 7 days a week, for many many many weeks without a day off — towards making this a unique and beautiful film. Everyone poured their heart and soul into it, and I can’t wait to share this 21st December!” The director also added, “In the meantime, I’m gonna go take a really long nap now.

From Warner Bros. Pictures comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas. The film, starring Momoa (Justice LeagueGame of Thrones) in the title role, reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime — one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.

Aquaman also stars Amber Heard (Justice LeagueMagic Mike XXL) as Mera, a fierce warrior and Aquaman’s ally throughout his journey; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (PlatoonSpider-Man 2) as Vulko, counsel to the Atlantean throne; Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring films, Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master, the present King of Atlantis; Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables films) as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (BaywatchThe Get Down) as the vengeful Black Manta; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The HoursLion) as Arthur’s mom, Atlanna. Also starring is Ludi Lin (Power Rangers) as Captain Murk, Atlantean Commando, and Temeura Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the ClonesGreen Lantern) as Arthur’s dad, Tom Curry.
