POLL: Should the MCU Eventually Try a 3rd Dark Phoenix Movie?

In twenty years there have been a dozen films in 20th Century Fox‘s X-Men film franchise, and two of them have been based on Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s 1976 comics storyline “The Dark Phoenix Saga.” Both of those films, 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and this past weekend’s Dark Phoenix, were written by franchise producer Simon Kinberg and were not particularly well-recieved, but now that Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios has control over the X-Men property the question remains: Do fans want to see a third version of the Dark Phoenix story set in the MCU? If so, how long should Marvel Studios wait to remake it? ComingSoon.net wants our readers to answer both these questions in the poll below!

In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Dark Phoenix brings back much of the cast of the new films including James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver).

Simon Kinberg wrote and directed the film, marking his directorial debut. He produced alongside Lauren Shuler Donner and Hutch Parker.

The last installment to Fox’s X-Men film franchise is now playing in theaters everywhere.
