Zombieverse 2 Cast: SNSD Taeyeon Joins Dex for Netflix Special’s Season 2

Netflix’s popular Korean variety show Zombieverse 2 will feature a star-studded cast, including Girls’ Generation star Taeyeon. Season 1 of Zombieverse aired on Netflix in August 2023. The streaming platform confirmed the renewal of season 2 last December.

Amid several popular Korean variety shows, Netflix’s Zombieverse became a fan favorite by creating a unique world where an apocalypse occurred in the middle of Seoul. Netflix explained the show’s unique USP: Zombieverse sets itself apart from traditional shows by placing its participants in the midst of a real-life zombie apocalypse, where every move, decision, and survival tactic is unscripted.”

Taeyeon confirmed in Netflix Zombieverse 2 cast

K-pop queen Taeyeon is joining Netflix’s Zombieverse season 2 cast, along with Single’s Inferno star Dex. According to reports, the Korean artist has finished filming for the show, which is expected to air this year. SNSD’s Taeyeon is no stranger to variety shows. She is currently a cast member of TVN’s popular show Amazing Saturday.

However, Zombieverse 2 will be a new challenge for Taeyeon as the show will be even more complicated this year. While announcing the renewal of Zombieverse, Netflix teased, “Expect upgraded quests, enhanced zombies, a new cast, and an expanded universe.”

Season 1 of Zombieverse became one of the top Korean shows on the platform right after its release. The creative producer Park Jin Kyung explained how he made the show happen in an interview, noting: “Korea already has a huge range of variety shows, and we’ve also seen a lot of zombie-themed scripted drama series and movies, so we thought it would be fun to bring them together – at least we knew the infrastructure was there.”

The producer added that Zombieverse sets itself apart from the other shows by realistically capturing the participants’ conflicts and dilemmas. “We don’t have a lot of close-ups because that would make it feel like a movie or drama, but you can see in the wide shots that the contestants’ reactions are real.”

Season 1 of Zombieverse featured a diverse cast, including Sweet Home actress Lee Si-Young, variety star Ro HongChul, Dex, Korean comedian Park Na Rae, rapper DINDIN aka Lim Cheol, Billlie’s Tsuki, and more.
