BTS X UNICEF: K-Pop Group Launches Mental Health Initiative On My Mind

K-pop septet BTS is launching the mental health campaign On My Mind with UNICEF, marking the second chapter of BTS’ Love Myself initiative.

BTS and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) started their first mental health campaign in 2017 to fight against violence toward children and teens around the world. The “Butter” crooners delivered a historic speech, inviting their fans to hope for a better world. Through music and acceptance, Namjoon urged fans to practice self-love, hence the campaign name, “Love Myself.”

BTS starts chapter 2 of Love Myself campaign with UNICEF

K-pop juggernauts BTS is beginning another chapter of the ‘Love Myself’ campaign with UNICEF. To launch the new initiative, UNICEF has started a fun project where you can ‘write a postcard’ to your loved one via UNICEF’s website and send it electronically.

UNICEF explains that the motto of the new On My Mind campaign is to encourage everyone to love themselves and those around them with a healthy mind. They add, “Loving oneself” starts with “listening to the voice of my heart.” So fans are encouraged to write what is on their mind through postcards and social media using the hashtags #OnMyMind and “BTSLoveMyself.

The official website of the Love Myself campaign reveals the beginning of BTS x UNICEF, stating, “BTS and its label Big Hit Entertainment have jointly prepared a LOVE MYSELF campaign, starting early 2017. They were very careful when choosing an appropriate partner. They needed a partner that could pursue and sympathize with their messages through a campaign, philosophy, and leadership, based on proper scale, organization, and experience. That’s how the Korean Committee for UNICEF became an ideal partner.”

Since 2017, BTS has twice attended the United Nations conference and delivered speeches that inspired fans. In the first speech, Namjoon discussed the importance of speaking for yourself in the speech. He said, “Tell me your story. I want to hear your voice, and I want to hear your conviction. No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin colour, gender identity: speak yourself,” adding, “Find your name, find your voice by speaking yourself.”

Meanwhile, BTS is on hiatus and recently shared their new MNCR project. The new Monochrome project includes pop-up stores and exclusive merchandise. The latest Monochrome merch will be available in pop-up stores and later in the Weverse Shop.
