Frankly Speaking Episode 4 Recap: How Did Go Kyung-Pyo End up in Kang Han-Na’s Building?

Frankly Speaking episode 4 aired on Thursday, May 9, 2024, on JTBC and Netflix. Starring Go Kyung-Pyo as Song Ki-Baek and Kang Han-Na as On Woo-Joo, the rom-com K-drama focuses on the lead characters finding solace in each other during a difficult phase of their lives.

In the previous episode, Song Ki-Baek shocked everyone at work when he quit his job. As the program conveyed the opposite, Ki-Baek gave a strong speech and left. Woo-Joo couldn’t believe her eyes and left shocked.

Frankly Speaking episode 4 focuses on life giving a reality check to Ki-Baek. He returns home because he is unemployed and broke. Meanwhile, Woo-Joo also has a challenging day at work that affects her morale. With a sad face, she goes to her building’s rooftop, where she meets Ki-Baek. Initially, they wonder why the other person is in the same building. Soon, they realize that Woo-Joo’s mother is the landlady, while Ki-Baek’s family is the tenant.

After meeting each other on the roof, Song Ki-Baek gets up to leave in Frankly Speaking episode 4. Woo-Joo tells him that it is a shared space, so he can stay. She asks him if he regrets his decision to quit his job. He says yes, adding that if he returns, he may do the exact same thing. They find solace in each other’s words.

The next morning, Woo-Joo is all charged up to work harder for her variety show. Meanwhile, Ki-Baek becomes uncomfortable and awkward sharing a space with his brothers. For context, Ki-Baek left his house long ago and never maintained a cordial relationship with his family.

On the other hand, Woo-Joo swallows her pride and approaches her ex-boyfriend, Kim Jung-Heon (Joo Jong-Hyuk), to star in her variety show. The latter is a top star in the entertainment industry and wants to work with Woo-Joo, planning to woo her again. But Woo-Joo shuts him down whenever he tries to flirt with her. Despite rejections, Jung-Heon protects her from other celebrities’ wrath and tries to make her look good in front of her employees. However, his gestures make Woo-Joo uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, Ki-Baek meets one of his seniors from the company, who has become a freelancer. After seeing him host small events for elderly people, Ki-Baek looks disappointed. Later at night, he crosses paths with Woo-Joo, and they share a drink at a park. They comfort each other and also share a heart-fluttering moment.

Frankly Speaking episode 4 ending: Did Go Kyung-Pyo agree to participate in Kang Han-Na’s variety show?

In Frankly Speaking episode 4, Song Ki-Baek finds a job where he has to tutor a child. But it doesn’t work out for him. Meanwhile, Woo-Joo’s employees complain about her creativity behind her back, and she hears everything.

Towards the end of the episode, Woo-Joo calls Ki-Baek and asks him to meet her as soon as possible. He, on the other hand, also wants to tell her that she is the key to his condition. After looking around for each other, they finally meet on the roof of their house. Somehow they end up arguing while a series of events lead to load-shedding.

Once the lights are out, the two calm down. Ki-Baek puts her hand on his chest over his heart. He says, “The switch is turned off.” For context, when he was electrocuted, a switch in his brain apparently turned on. So, whenever it turns on, he behaves strangely and speaks without thinking. In episode 4, he realizes that Woo-Joo can only turn it off and bring him back to normal.

The final scene shows Woo-Joo on the set of her new variety show. Jung-Heon approaches her with a big smile on the first day of the shoot. But her eyes look for someone else. Ki-Baek walks in, bringing a big smile to Woo-Joo’s face. It appears the former announcer agreed to participate in her show.

Frankly Speaking airs twice a week on Wednesday and Thursday on JTBC and Netflix.
