The Midnight Romance in Hagwon: Everything To Know About Wi Ha-Joon & Jung Ryeo-Won Starrer

Upcoming tvN K-drama The Midnight Romance in Hagwon is right around the corner. Replacing the recently concluded K-drama Queen of Tears, this series will premiere on Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12, 2024, at 9:20 p.m. KST on tvN.

The series follows the gradual love story of popular instructor Seo Hye-Jin (Jung Ryeo-Won) and her former student Lee Joon-Ho (Wi Ha-Joon). Viewers can also stream the episodes and series on Viki.

The Midnight Romance in Hagwon is set against the backdrop of Daechi-Dong, a neighborhood famous for private education centers in Korea. Director Ahn Pan-Seok, famous for his successful works, including One Spring Night and Something in the Rain, helms the series. Wi Ha-Joon plays former student-turned-instructor Lee Joon-Ho. Meanwhile, Jung Ryeo-Won essays the role of popular instructor Seo Hye-Jin. A few years down the line, Hye-Jin prepared her star student, Joon-Ho, and helped him enter a prestigious university. But what she remains unaware of is that Joon-Ho considers her to be his first love. She finally reunites with him ten years later when he returns to the academy as an instructor.

On the other hand, Joon-Ho returns to pursue his first love, Seo Hye-Jin. The latter, meanwhile, is a popular professional academy instructor with over a decade of experience. While she remains extremely successful in her career, the same has taken a toll on her personal life as she remains uncertain about the future. This is when Joon-Ho’s return marks a significant chapter in her life as she navigates her growing feelings for him.

The Midnight Romance in Hagwon boasts a star-studded cast list. So Joo-Yeon plays fellow Korean language instructor Nam Cheong-Mi, who also joins the academy with Joon-Ho. She plays a key role in identifying Hye-Jin’s feelings towards Joon-Ho. Despite facing setbacks, she works hard to succeed.

Meanwhile, Shin Joo-Hyup plays Lee Joon-Ho’s best friend and graduate student, Choi Seung-Gyu. He chooses to pursue graduate studies instead of getting a job. Seung-Gyu helps Joon-Ho navigate his feelings and address concerns about his relationship with Hye-Jin. Other cast members who play key roles in the series include Kim Jong-Tae, Kim Jeong-Young, Jang In-Sub, Jang So-Yeon, Seo Jung-Yeon, and Kil Hae-Yeon, among others.
