Kim Nam-Joo K-Drama List: Wonderful World, Model & More

Kim Nam-Joo is a 52-year-old South Korean actress starring in the MBC drama Wonderful World. She has worked in the entertainment industry since her twenties and has become one of the award-winning and talented legends in K-drama.

Nam-Joo started her career as a model and participated in the Miss Korea pageant. She soon grabbed the attention of the television networks and made her TV debut in 1993 as a supporting character in Dinosaur Teacher. Her hit series include Model, Her House, The Boss, and City Men and Women.

The actress has taken two big breaks in her career. The first was between 2001 and 2009, during which she married actor Kim Seung-woo (2005) and started a family. The second break came after her series, Misty (2018). After a five-year break, she returned with a revenge K-drama, Wonderful World.

Wonderful World

Wonderful World is a revenge drama starring Kim Nam-Joo and Cha Eun-Woo in lead roles. Nam-Joo plays Eun Soo-Hyun, a once well-known author who loses her child to a road accident. When the justice system does not punish the culprit, she takes the matter into her own hands. After killing a person, she serves jail time. After her release, Soo-Hyun struggles to get back to her regular life.

Kwon Seon-Yul (Eun-Woo) somehow gets involved in Soo-Hyun’s life. While it seems they are getting along, a twist turns the storyline into a revenge drama. Aside from the two actors, the K-drama also stars Kim Kang-Woo, Im Se-Mi, and Won Mi-Kyung in pivotal roles. It airs on MBC and Disney Plus on Fridays and Saturdays.

Model

Model is a 36-episode 1997 Kim Nam-Joo K-drama on SBS. It tells the story of a model’s life and the struggles in the industry to make it big. Song Kyung-Rin (Nam-Joo) starts off as a fashion designer and wants Jo Won-Joon (Han Jae-Suk) as her model. But he refuses, and thus, she decides to become a model instead.

Meanwhile, a handsome man named Lee Jung (Jang Dong-Gun) returns to South Korea from the USA and shows his interest in modeling. Lee Jung and Kyung-Rin help out each other and eventually fall in love. However, Lee Jung comes with a dark secret. Aside from the cast mentioned above, the drama includes Yeom Jung-Ah, Lee Seon-Jin, and Song Sun-Mi in pivotal roles.

Her House

Her House is a 2021 drama about an unconventional love story. Jang Tae-Ju (Cha In-Pyo) is a construction supervisor and the elder son of a poor family. Kim Young-Wook (Kim Nam-Joo) is a building renovator who is an independent working woman from a rich family. Their different backgrounds and ambitions become a thorn in their love story.

The supporting actors include Hyun Suk, Shim Yang-Hong, Kim have-Sook, Im Ho, Park Geun-Hyung, Lee Hyo-Choon, Kim Young-Ok, Yoon Tae-Young, Kim Hyun-Joo, and Her Young-Ran. The MBC drama consists of 50 episodes.

My Husband Got a Family

My Husband Got a Family is a comedy South Korean drama that ran for 58 episodes in 2012. It revolves around Cha Yoon-Hee (Nam-Joo), a successful television drama producer, and her dramatic married life. Before meeting her husband, she was determined to find a life partner who had no connection with his family as she didn’t want to deal with in-laws. Luckily, she finds Terry, a wonderful, sweet man who is a doctor and has no connection with his birth parents.

When Yoon-Hee seems to enjoy her married life, her fear of in-laws enters her life. Terry finds her biological parents, who happen to be his next-door neighbors. Now, Yoon-Hee suddenly has a massive family of in-laws to deal with.

Aside from these dramas, the Wonderful World actress has also appeared in Queen of Reversals, Queen of Housewives, The Boss, and Voice of a Murderer.
