Why Did Kim Min-Kyu ‘Feel Pressured’ for His Upcoming K-Drama Missing Crown Prince?

Actor Kim Min-Kyu will soon appear in his upcoming K-drama, Missing Crown Prince, a.k.a The Crown Prince Has Disappeared. Also starring EXO’s Suho and actress Hong Ye-Ji, the series will be set in the Joseon era.

The storyline revolves around a crown prince and a woman who kidnaps him. While they flee for their lives, romance blooms between the lead characters. Can he accept his kidnapper as his wife? Viewers will find out on April 13, 2024, with the premiere of the K-drama.

In the series, Kim Min-Kyu plays the role of Grand Prince Do Sung. In a recent interview, the actor revealed why he felt “pressured” while performing a Joseon-era character.

Kim Min-Kyu opens up about his role in EXO Suho’s Missing Crown Prince

In Missing Crown Prince, Kim Min-Kyu plays Grand Prince Do Sung, who is placed in a tough spot after Suho’s (EXO member) character, Crown Prince Lee Gon, is kidnapped. Love Song for Illusion actress Hong Ye-Ji’s character, Choi Myung-Yoon, kidnaps him.

Speaking about his grand prince role, Min-Kyu pointed out that this is the first historical project of his career. He told Star News Korea (originally in Korean), “Actually, I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel pressured because it was my first historical drama, but I was very greedy because it was a character I had never shown before.”

He further added, “If I were to dare say it, out of all the characters I’ve played, it became the one I was most attached to, and even though it hurt my heart a lot, it also became the character I cared about. As the director and writers trusted me and gave me the opportunity, I’m doing my best to make sure I don’t ruin the work, so please keep an eye on me.”

Furthermore, the production company, Studio Jidam, praised Min-Kyu for his acting skills. The production team said, “I am confident that Kim Min-Kyu’s acting, which goes back and forth between various emotions as well as his heart-warming visuals, will make the play more solid.”

Missing Crown Prince will premiere on April 13, 2024, on MBN.
