Fight for My Way Ending Explained: Does Kim Ji-Won & Park Seo-Joon’s K-Drama Have a Happy or Sad Ending?

Fight for My Way is a 2017 romance comedy K-drama starring Park Seo-Joon (Gyeongseong Creature) and Kim Ji-Won (Queen of Tears) in lead roles. It revolves around two childhood friends, Ko Dong-Man and Choi Ae-Ra, who are childish and immature, but their friendship helps them get through difficult times together.

In the finale, Dong-Man and Ae-Ra break up after the former decides to fight in the final MMA championship. For context, Dong-Man gets severely injured in the semi-final match with rival Tak-Soo (Kim Gun-Woo). Seeing his condition, Ae-Ra tells him to quit the sport as she cannot see Dong-Man getting injured in the future. But he agrees to fight, and hence, she breaks up with him.

Fight for My Way episode 16 begins with Ae-Ra helping in Sul-Hee’s (Song Ha-Yoon) wine business. They are now single after parting ways with Dong-Man and Kim Joo-Man (Ann Jae-Hong), respectively. However, the broken hearts will mend towards the end, giving viewers a happy ending.

Fight for My Way recap & spoilers: Kim Ji-Won learns that her mother is alive 

In the Fight for My Way finale, Ae-Ra (Kim Ji-Won) tries to remain friends with Park Seo-Joon’s Dong-Man after the breakup. But the latter refuses to talk to her until she gets together with him. Meanwhile, Ae-Ra visits her landlady, Hwang Bok-Hee (Jin Hee-Kyung), despite the latter always being rude to her.

During the visit, Ae-Ra discovers that she is her biological mother. Ji-Won’s character is heartbroken and refuses to listen to Bok-Hee’s excuses for abandoning her. Later, Ae-Ra finds out that her mother has never left her and has always sent her money for education. Eventually, Ae-Ra forgives Bok-Hee and begins to understand her.

On the other hand, Dong-Man finds out through his ex-girlfriend Hye-Ran that Ae-Ra has always been the one for him. The ex-girlfriend confesses that she has taken advantage of the lead characters and has tried to come in between them. Hye-Ran smiles, saying, “A dummy like you needs a dummy like her.” When he realizes that Ae-Ra has always loved him, he begins to talk to her.

Meanwhile, Sul-Hee resigns from her job and becomes the full-time CEO of her wine business. Although she has still not forgiven Joo-Man, the distance between them seems to slowly decrease.

Fight for My Way ending: Did Kim Ji-Won & Park Seo-Joon end up together?

Toward the end of Fight for My Way, Kim Ji-Won’s Ae-Ra becomes the presenter of Dong-Man’s (Park Seo-Joon) final match. Dong-Man has to fight against Tak-Soo, who previously sent him to the hospital.

This time, Dong-Man is fully prepared to showcase his skills against his rival and his schemes. Leaving Tak-Soo surprised with his moves, Seo-Joon’s character wins the match. Ae-Ra comes into the ring and announces Dong-Man as the winner. Dong-Man holds her hand and stops her when she is about to leave.

He teases Kim Ji-Won’s character by asking why she is crying for her ex-boyfriend. Dong-Man then says he cannot ask her to take him back if she decides to break up again. Hence, he wants her to live with him. She looks at him wide-eyed, and he responds, “If we kiss, we’re dating. If we live together, it’s marriage. Marry me!” Filled with emotions, the two hug each other, and the crowd cheers for them.

The K-drama ends with all four friends successfully finding their way to live a happy life. The main characters have found their love and flourishing in their respective careers. Fight for My Way’s curtain closes with the four best friends sharing drinks and snacks on the rooftop a day before Dong-Man and Ae-Ra’s wedding.
