The Impossible Heir surrounds itself around three characters. Kang In-Ha discovers that he is the illegitimate son of the chairman of the Kang Oh group. However, after his new family shuns him, he partners with his intellectually gifted friend Han Tae-Ho and plots to take over the company. Meanwhile, as they aim to reach the top of the societal chain, they cross paths with Na Hye-Won. She joins them as she aims to seek revenge on the conglomerate group.

As per a local news report, webtoon artist Cheese created the first poster, depicting the three characters as elite conglomerates enjoying a life of luxury. Tae-Ho and In-Ha wore suits, while Hye-Won wore an elegant red gown. Artist EDDiERiNG depicted an interactive poster, showcasing the differences in the three individuals’ lives, from the bottom to the top of the societal chain. Meanwhile, artist Min Song-Ah showcased a potential love story between In-Ha and Hye-Won, with Tae-Ho looking from afar, indicating a twist.

Other artists who have also created the posters include Sam, Ani-Yeong, Im Ri-Na, and Gyeoni. These posters describe the poor taking over the elite company, transforming them into chaebols themselves. Furthermore, the posters also smartly tease twists and turns that viewers can expect in the series.
