Tell Me That You Love Me episode 1: Shin Hyun-Been and Jung Woo-Sung meet at Jeju Island

In the first episode of Tell Me That You Love Me, Shin Hyun-Been’s Jung Mo-Eun and Jung Woo-Sung’s Cha Jin-Woo have their first meeting at the captivating shore of Jeju Island when Mo-Eun’s scarf flies away to Jin-Woo. The two share a brief moment there when Jin-Woo hands over the scarf to Mo-Eun. Jung Mo-Eun came to Jeju Island for a shoot, where she has a side role, while Cha Jin-Woo is visiting the island to paint in solitary.

At their initial meeting, Mo-Eun does not realize that Jin-Woo lacks the ability to speak or hear. However, she soon realizes his condition when he communicates with her in sign language when they both go to buy beverages from a vending machine. The next day, both go to a restaurant on the island to eat. Unfortunately, a fire accidentally breaks out inside the restaurant. All the customers and employees at the restaurant rush to get out of the place. However, due to his hearing disability, Jin-Woo is not aware of the dangerous situation and is left behind.

Mo-Eun almost leaves but suddenly thinks about Jin-Woo, whom she sees inside the restaurant. She then quickly runs to get him and somehow manages to navigate her way to him through the fire and bring him outside safely. However, while trying to bring him out, the two face difficulty as Jin-Woo gets rattled by the situation. The scene also hints that the deaf artist may have a past trauma related to a fire break-out.

The two end up in a hospital and from there, after which they bond. The two start to communicate by writing what they want to tell each other in a notebook. Mo-Eun tells Jin-Woo that she is hungry, and they start looking for a place to eat. When they could not find any place, Jin-Woo takes Mo-Eun to his caravan, where he cooks food for the both of them. The two then enjoy the food by the seaside as it rains. When the rain stops, Jin-Woo walks Mo-Eun to her hotel.

The next day, they both return to the city. Mo-Eun is seen struggling to find a proper acting job, while Jin-Woo is seen teaching art to young students. In the meantime, they constantly think about one another. While returning home, Mo-Eun sees Jin-Woo on a bus. Although she chases after it, the bus leaves.

However, Jin-Woo returns to her, and the two meet again. When they see each other Mo-Eun greets him and tells him her name in sign language. It shows that she has started to learn sign language to communicate and connect with Jin-Woo. The episode ends with Jin-Woo realizing that someone has put effort to know him better.
