One of the popular K-dramas, My Love From The Star, is a rom-com. Starring Kim Soo-Hyun and Jun Ji-Hyun, it narrates a love story between an alien and a human. Soo-Hyun was immensely appreciated for his performance.
Do Min-Joon (Kim Soo-Hyun) is an alien who has been living on Earth since the Joseon era for more than 400 years. Along with a perfect appearance, Min-Joon possesses special powers, including vision, hearing, and speed. Even though he has always been cynical about human beings, he falls in love with one. However, not with ordinary people, Min-Joon falls hard for a popular actress, Cheon Song-Yi (Jun Ji-Hyun).
Park Ji-Eun co-writes the drama along with Lucal Wesker and Tae You-Chang directs it. My Love From The Star: Is it a happy or a sad ending?
In My Love From The Star, Do Min-Joon is an alien who has seen the world for more years than any human being, and that makes him judge every person he meets. He has a cynical approach to any human. However, his behavioral pattern shifted after meeting Cheon Song-Yi. Even though they started on the wrong foot, falling in love with each other was inevitable. The drama exudes an enemies-to-lovers troupe.
But there’s a catch. Do Min-Joon doesn’t have much time left to spend with Cheon Song-Yi. His health starts deteriorating and he must return to his place to get better. But what will happen to his love story?
Spoilers ahead, Do Min-Joon (Kim Soo-Hyun) spends his time in despair after being separated from his love. After some time, he returns to Earth to Cheon Song-Yi (Jun Ji-Hyun). But, both of them know that he cannot stay for long. However, each time he returned after recharging on his planet, he stayed longer with Song-Yi. He didn’t become human and stayed immortal. So there’s a chance of him outliving Song-Yi. Even though it concluded with kind of an open ending, it still left the viewers with a positive hope that there might be one day when he can start to live on Earth forever. So it’s not possible to tag it as a happy or even a sad ending.
Kim Soo-Hyun and Jun Ji-Hyun’s chemistry in My Love From The Star was highly applauded by viewers. Soo-Hyun’s handsomeness and Ji-Hyun’s beauty – a perfect combo. Their swoon-worthy romance is enough to give us butterflies in our stomachs.
Soo-Hyun later earned the tag of being a rom-com king. His other notable works are It’s Okay To Not Be Okay, Secretly Greatly, and others. On the other Jun Ji-Hyun is a popular South Korean actress who proved her worth as an actress over the years of her career. She created a wave among her fans’ hearts after featuring in Legend of the Blue Sea as a mermaid. She starred in it along with Lee Min-Ho. Their chemistry really chemistries in the drama.
