‘National Treasure’ and the ‘Chipmunks’ Continue Box-Office Dominance

It was inevitable that National Treasure: Book of Secrets would once again take the top spot and it was assumed the only newcomer, Warner Bros.’ One Missed Call, would not be contending for said spot as National Treasure adds another $6.1 million to their cume is poised to take the box-office number one for the third weekend in a row and will ultimately become Nicolas Cage’s best performing film ever some time next week.

I am not sure how surprised anyone is that Fox’s Alvin and the Chipmunks continues to perform well as the little rodent feature earns another $4.5 million this Friday and is now totally over $160 million at the domestic box-office.

One Missed Call came in second on Friday with $5.2 million but will likely fall to the #4 or 5 spot once the weekend ends and I Am Legend stays strong with another $5 million and the continually expanding Juno (no pun intended) raked in $4.95 million on Friday as it is now being seen in 1,925 theaters.

Here is how Fantasy Moguls estimates the three-day weekend will shake out, come back on Sunday for Laremy’s full breakdown.
